World Of Wonder

We live in a world, where it's okay to be complacent in our dreams, where sensitivity is at an all time high, where everything is racist or sexist, and everyone else is at fault for our failures . We live in a time where people beat each other down, talk bad about one another and wish or pray for their enemies’ downfall. Knowing that, how do you think this world is doing today?

There are suicide bombers, terrorists of all kinds foreign and those known at home. YET, we tend to turn a blind eye to what we have going on in our own backyards, and look at the mud filled pigpens of our neighbors. We live in a world, where it’s okay to be ignorant. Where it’s okay for an entertainer to make a mockery of a political platform, where when wearing cameras, the police are still killing us and getting away with it, where people can end up dead in jail after illegally being booked, where someone can yell "rape" and have an innocent man placed behind bars. We live in a world were kids are obese, and shame on a teacher for pushing gym class, where "guns kill people" yet we forget that someone had to pull the trigger, where being heavy set is "gross" and to thin is just as "gross", where body shaming is the new fad, and cyber bullying is the new trend. You see, we live in a world of hatred, ignorance, obliviousness and manipulation.

Many people before us had dreams that everything will be equal, that all of us will love one another, that man and woman will get the same pay and respect, and that this place, the world will be so loving to where we can live in peace. What happened to the dreamers? When did dreaming become preaching, when did dreaming become a phase, and when did wanting what is best for the universe become too farfetched?

I get confused when I turn on the news. The senseless murders, the viral videos of little children fighting, the dance moves that are over sexualized, petty crime sprees, and bullying because one person looks different from the other. News makes me sad, because it is a harsh reality to what is really happening. This world is senseless; there aren't enough people who have good hearts that are left in this world to make a change. And IF I am wrong, where are you? What are you doing to help? Where is your voice? We have so much technology, there is no reason as to why inspirational videos, blogs, tweets, Instagram posts, and Facebook pages should be filled with ratchet crap instead of uplifting messages.

Remember the sayings: "do unto others as you want done unto you", "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all", "sharing is caring", "be kind and respect your elders". Somewhere between elementary school and middle school, those ethical teachings went out the window. I fully believe that this world can truly be a place of love. That this country can truly understand that we are still separated and until drastic measures are taken, nothing will change. Prosecute the police who are killing people, don't just place them on paid administrative leave; have fair sentences for everyone for the same crimes! Doesn't matter if they are white, black, brown, purple or yellow and it shouldn't matter if they are male, female, rich or poor. Take a look at our education system, find a way to BREAK the chains when it comes to the inner city youths. REACH OUT and do something; and for the love of GOD stop giving up on people just because they made a mistake. God told us to forgive someone 70 times 7, imagine if we actually did that, not only forgave people, but helped them change? Provide outlets for them, give them tools to utilize, encouraging words of belief instead of telling them they will fail. What would happen if we allowed this to take place? Now, not everyone wants change, or is willing to help themselves and that’s okay, at least you tried.

I’ll be ecstatic when the day comes and we love one another unconditionally. Where there are no judgments, and where everyone helps out someone. I know I am thinking of heaven, but I would truly love to think that heaven can be on earth one day.  Just my thoughts….

And the Award Goes Tooooooooooooo?

So you know those strange people who hang out at Wally World? You know the group that I'm talking about. They dress with no care in the world, might have missed a few showers, talk to themselves and random people scaring the CRAP out of anyone near them? Yeah those people, well I was one of them.... on accident.

It was REALLY early in the morning, and I SWORE that I knew this man in the cereal isle. I shouted hey "said guys name" and waved, thing is he waved and smile back at me CONFIRMING that we knew each other. So as I'm looking at my phone I proceed to tell this man my embarrassing moment..

Sigh... here is goes

ME: "(Said mans name), like I was just texting you this is not my morning!"
MAN "umm okay?"
ME: "First my morning was great, maintence was going to come in to fix my moving toilet, I worked out this morning and it kicked my ass the usual.."
MAN: "okay cool"
ME: " BUT this is where it messes up! I really had to pee so I looked at the clock and was like okay, I have time! BUT THEN  my heel got stuck on my pant, which caused me to lean forward fall off the toilet and into the wall, peeing everywhere! I was STUCK in this horrible scorpion position.FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, maintenance comes in RIGHT at 7am! Why? Because said they could come between the hours of 7am-3pm since I would be at work. Long story short, I'm now closer to my maintence guy seeing how he had to help me get unstuck. I then had to clean up everything and myself and now I'm here at good ol Walmart...."

As I looked up, I noticed that this man was not my friend... instead he was slowly inching away from me. I didn't know that man, so to make it seem like I wasn't crazy to the lady to my right. I waved to my new friend and said

"OKAY! I'll see you after work, yup have a great day!"
The lady to my right: "honey you should dump him because he isn't listening"

So dear randomly handsome man in Walmart, I am an adult and I do not pee on myself... Hope you're having a great Monday!

New Years Resolutions?

"I'm going to get in shape" or "I'm going to eat right" to "yup, this year I'll be sexy!" How many people have said that at the new year, I will focus on a better body, make healthier food choices and so on? My question is, why wait if it is something that you're serious about?

Many people wait for a Monday, the weekend or the new year to do something good. If you know what you want, then go for it! Why wait to tell someone you love them? Why wait to work-out? Why wait to eat that salad and put down that cheese burger? Why wait to work on your bad language? Why wait to fix a broken relationship family/friend/or love? Why wait to love yourself?Waiting will only aid to the existing issue of procrastination.

I haven't made a new years resolution, heck, I haven't made one since I was in High School. For me, I discovered that waiting only leads to forgetting then leads to self hatred at some point and disappointment. Let's be honest, no one has time for that.Let's get real, new years resolutions can be stressful! So instead of focusing on having one, focus on all that you have accomplished in 2015.

For Me:

I moved from Alaska to Texas, put out another novel, got into the best shape of my life, grew closer to God, got baptized, went on a solo trip, dated outside my race for once, went on a date BY MYSELF, built up my self confidence, loved and lost, laughed and cried, learned to cook gourmet meals, started a new book series to read AND started a new one to write :) , learned to flirt, put all those years of Spanish and French class to use, and lastly, fell in love with what God created....ME.

I didn't go into this year with a new years resolution, no expectations of false reality instead I just did it, on the day I was thinking it and never stopped. Just try it, don't wait, go get what you want.

Mackenzi Heyman

MACKENZI HEYMAN is from College Station but now lives in Los Angeles. After meeting an amazing woman Nikki Petterson, Mackenzis' family took a huge leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles. She has a constant gig at Republic of Pie in LA, where I first saw her sing live! Not only was she bubbly, sarcastic, cleaver, stylish and sweet; BUT she also has a voice to match. For about 20 minutes I was drawn into her voice, and I couldn't look away or be bothered with conversation.

Heyman's new single CIGARETTES is out NOW! A great song in which its title is just the beginning of something amazing! I suggest you download it and get lost in the words and musical creativity that is Mackenzi Heyman.  I am  SO honored to have her in the studio to debut her new song, as well as singing some amazing covers! Take a listen to her interview on Candy 95 below! Also check out the links to her social media profiles.
